Cue of the Week: “TV Breakdown”
This moody piece of music from the film Home Room features one of my favorite orchestral instruments, the bass flute. It’s a difficult instrument to play (and sometimes hard to find), but has a wonderfully dark and sensuous tone color. The instrument also requires a lot of breath in order to produce a tone, so it’s good idea to let the musician occasionally come up for air!

Nice to hear bass flute; I agree, this cool instrument must get more exposure! I hear there are also the equivalent range instruments being manufactured in the recorder family now; resembles a bassoon in appearance. Something to consider?
Some of your best stuff. I love the lingering piano notes and rising and falling tones in the back.
Quite amazing. Was trying to come up with some analysis of why and how amazing and stopped myself short. Just pulls you in.
