Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Empire City

The game (coming in Spring 2026!)

TMNT: Empire City is an official VR game adaptation of the beloved comic/movie franchise. Role-play as your favorite artistically-named ninja turtle, explore a vast city, take on the NYC Foot, and unravel the mystery of a mysterious new leader figure of a clan in Japan.

The score

I was thrilled to write the cutscene music for this game, supplementing a masterful 90s techno score by my friend and colleague Alex May. The score is of a unified palette, drawing from the techno and hip hop sounds of the mid-to-late 90s. The cutscene music I wrote adapted the vocabulary of the Alex’s in-game combat, exploration, and area-based score for the story-focused cinematic interludes.

Speaking as someone who used to own physical “ROMpler” hardware like the Roland JV-1080, it was a blast revisiting these sonic palettes through their modern-day plugin emulations. I found that I remembered many specific patches!
