Over the past weeks we’ve explored the main body of the Dice Legacy score. But there are a few remaining extras and bonus tracks, such as this bespoke trailer music for the game’s launch. Although this is mostly new music meant to accompany the trailer’s enigmatic voice-over, there is a little hint of the game’s main theme at the very end. (I’m probably the only person who notices these details, but that’s okay.)

Every now and then I get to pen a vocal song for one of my scoring projects. When the option arose to do so for Dice Legacy‘s closing credits, I jumped on the opportunity!

The Land in the Sky is a vocal setting (a fancy term for adding voice and lyrics to existing music) of the game’s main theme. The main attraction here is a dazzling vocal performance from recording artist Eurielle, who also provided ambient vocals for some of the score’s instrumental tracks. The song’s style is reminiscent of dramatic musical theater, or contemporary art-song.

The lyrics reflect the perspective of the game’s protagonistic settlers. Since they inhabit the inside of a ring world, they literally see the land stretch upwards in the distance.

This collaboration was a rare and fulfilling artistic experience. I hope you enjoy the results!

Like many games, Dice Legacy builds to a confrontation with a bad guy – in this case a horizon-spanning demon that’s legitimately scary. Here’s its music.

This week’s music is the final winter-themed piece from the Dice Legacy score. Here, the coldest season is evoked by echoing piano and icy string swells. These ethereal elements are counterbalanced by a moody and arching cello melody, courtesy of soloist Simone Vitucci.

This cue from the Dice Legacy soundtrack evokes the winter phase of the game through a melancholy folk melody. (My ancestral Russian roots may be speaking up here; the clarinet opening is definitely a nod to Tchaikovsky.)
